I am a person that helps students and potential students. Last month, which was low in people coming into the college, my co-worker and I helped close to 2,000 students. Other times of the year we help twice that amount. What is the hardest part of my job? Sometimes I have to deal with rude people. They often don't like the answer I must give them. Or people that didn't do what they should and want me to fix it such as dropping a class. There are due dates.
I have been at GRCC since 2000. I don't mind being a state employee. There are always good and not so good things. I can't complain. I have worked in different areas of the college such as Outreach (recruitment). In 2009 due to the increase of students because of the Great Recession, I moved back into Enrollment Services. In five years I will have 20 years in and can start thinking about retirement. Who knows. Seems strange to me to think about but it's there.
Last June my daughter graduated from GRCC.
Today I am at a workshop. I try to attend at least two a year.
Hope you're enjoying your week.

Hi Danna! So nice to learn what you do for a living. Sounds like your job can be challenging at times. I feel bad for you having to deal with rude people. I don't like to deal with anyone, myself. I just have to say that you do not look old enough to be able to retire in 5 years and you don't look old enough to have two grandsons. So keep doing what you're doing and then maybe share the secret with me? lol Hope you're enjoying your week!

Hi Danna, that is a lot of students to handle and I can see why the rude people can get to you. It was nice to learn a little bit more about what you do at work though. Take it easy and enjoy the weekend! Hugs
