Port Townsend

North Beach

About two hours from where we live, on the other side of the Puget Sound, is the small Victorian town of Port Townsend.  About four years ago, when Kari began her recovery, we went and explored Port Townsend.  It has become one of our favorite places to visit.

That day we got in the car to go for a drive and ended up visiting Port Townsend.  When we got there we decided we needed more time to spend looking around so we stayed in a motel.  One delight in Port Townsend is going to North Beach and do some sea glass hunting.

It is a special day when you are out on North Beach, with the sun shining, looking for colorful pieces of sea glass.  The morning sun can light up the pieces so you can see them on the sand.  Without the sun, you have to have "special eyes" to find them.  Kari has been in a spot and then moved... then I come along and have found pieces she didn't see.  Someday I will show you what I do with these pieces.

We also go down to the downtown area.  It is all Victorian.  Our favorite stores are a jewelry store and a bead store.  We also like to go to the Public House which is a restaurant.  In the jewelry store there are many stones and crystals.  One of our favorite stones right now is Moonstone.  Both Kari and I have taken geology in college and we really appreciate each piece we buy.  We learn where it comes from and it's properties.

Have a great Wednesday!
